Welcome to Skyline Cabin!

This gorgeous cabin is new to short term rentals. It is owned by a family who enjoys it when they come to the Shenandoah and rent it out so that others can enjoy this gem in the mountains! It is managed by Massanutten Vacations, LLC, the leading, premier vacation rental home and management company in the Elkton area since 2006.

To book this home you need to complete one of our leases. We will send it to you once we have ACCEPTED your request.
** Thanksgiving, Christmastime through New Year's Day, and JMU Graduation require a 4-night minimum stay while other holidays require a 3-night minimum stay.**

**Update: We care deeply about our guests' comments and suggestions and aim to improve as we are a new rental! We made two changes based on guest reviews and recommendations that we are sure will result in the best possible experience for our guests. 1. We now offer the option of keyless entry to the cabin or to pick up the keys at the office in Elkton. 2. We now offer garbage removal for an additional fee of $30. Please let us know your preference when you are making your booking.

** Sound is amplified on the mountain, and we ask guests to be mindful of noise levels when gathered on the porch or by the hot tub to avoid disturbing neighbors.

The cabin is decorated with custom made paintings by a DC-based artist and has just been refurbished by the family with brand new furniture, featuring solid wood pieces that match the beauty of the log home. . The log cabin is nestled on a private, five-acre plot of land in the mountains that borders Shenandoah National Park and is located 15 minutes from Massanutten Four-Seasons Resort. It is named due to its proximity to Skyline Drive, which is visible from the property's view of the mountains and is a beautiful 15-minute drive from the cabin. The cabin is accessible by a gravel road in the Sun Valley district. This winding mountain road has three bridges that cross the neighborhood mountain creeks. The cabin is located 2.5 hours from Washington DC and is the perfect Shenandoah getaway.

The cabin boasts beautiful wood flooring, an interior balcony with cathedral ceiling, a wrap-around porch, a hot tub, and outdoor seating areas to watch the sunrise and sunset over the mountains. This home is perfect for nature lovers looking to enjoy everything that the Shenandoah has to offer, including hiking, fishing, kayaking, wineries, breweries, golf, skiing, cycling, mountain biking, zip-lining, river rafting, Grand Caverns, Luray Caverns, Civil War Trails, the George Washington National Forest, and more.

The paintings featured in the home are custom made by an abstract Washington DC-based artist and are available for purchase.

Please note that due to its mountain location, this cabin offers different options for Internet connectivity. Our guests have cell service and use personal hotspots at the property. If guests are interested in having access to the cabin's satellite internet, they are welcome to do so for an additional fee. Upon request, guests may access free, wireless internet from Massanutten Vacation's office location, 10 minutes from the cabin.

Guests may hike the property but do so at their own risk due to the inherent conditions of forest walks. Please wear hiking boots, long pants, and stay on paths. Please be aware of the natural environment of the cabin and the fact that there are wild animals on the mountain, including bear, deer, snakes, and bobcats. There are also neighborhood dogs, so please use caution when walking around the area.

There is a closet full of board games, puzzles, and books, and an outdoor volleyball and badminton set in the front yard (seasonal use only; netting is store through Wintertime). Treasure quiet mornings, afternoons and evenings sitting on a rocker or the front porch swing. Soak in the five-person hot tub after a day of hiking and sit by the mountain to take in the breathtaking view.

Skyline Cabin is located on a beautiful mountain that is 10 minutes from the Elkton town center, where you will find a Food Lion, Walgreens, Elkton Brewery, Blue Elk Coffee shop, and other restaurants, and businesses. We are certain that you will have a beautiful experience in this mountain setting, enjoying the gorgeous trees and natural surroundings. Please be aware of the natural conditions of a mountain setting. The gravel road is very well maintained, and while it is normally easy to access the cabin, there are sometimes challenges that are inherent to a mountain setting. These include downed trees that may block the road, water that may overflow over the three bridges that cross the creek, ice and snow on the road, among others. We have a team that is on call and available to handle any issues that may arise, but please be advised that we are better able to handle challenges if you check in before 8pm in order for us to have time to handle issues during our working hours. If you check in after 8pm, we will do our best to fix any problems in a timely manner, but this will make it more difficult to get our team to help solve the issue. Thank you in advance for your patience and please enjoy your experience in this beautiful corner of the natural world.

This home is wheelchair accessible and offers easy mobility around the main level. Handicap access is obtained from the ramp located around the back of the home.

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the property. Pets are not permitted anywhere on this property. Housekeeping and management check the property after each guest to ensure the nonsmoking policy was adhered to.


Ground Level: There are three entrances that open into the spacious, open-floor plan living, dining, and kitchen areas. The dining room boasts a large gas fireplace, (Fireplace use 01 October through 31 March, ONLY). All rooms feature ceiling fans. There is a mud room and laundry area featuring a brand-new Samsung washing machine and dryer. The furnished deck off dining area is where the hot tub and grill are located. You will be able to see the large garage from here.

All beds, mattresses, and linens are brand new. The queen bedroom (bedroom #1) with a beautiful, upholstered queen bed is to the left of the main level bathroom with chairs and a chest of drawers. Another bedroom (#2), to the right of the bathroom, has a solid wood queen bed, an armchair, and shelving for clothes. There is a full bathroom with a dual-headed shower and dual vanities, between these rooms. Upstairs are the third and fourth bedrooms. The room at the far end of the hall is a king suite with a gorgeous, upholstered king bed, an oversized armchair and a desk and chair. The room at the top of the stairs has four twin beds and the best view of the mountains! In between these bedrooms is the second bathroom with a bathtub and dual vanities.

1) The reservation must be in the name of the person whose name is on the military ID.
2) A copy of your unexpired U.S. military ID card, current orders, or Veteran's Administration ID must be submitted with your signed rental contract to get this discount.
Mark through all social security numbers on the military ID copy.
Write MILITARY next to the Payment Details on page 1 of your rental contract.
Your rental contract will not show the discounted amount. Military discount will be applied once your rental agreement & military ID are received in our office.
3) Military IDs received after payment has been made will not be honored for the discount.
4) This discount is given to active duty, reservists and retired military persons.
5) Military discount is not given to civilians, civilian affiliates, contractors, Senior Executive Service (SES), Federal affiliates or Military affiliates accompanying the Armed Forces.
